BERGENFIELD, NJ – The Bergenfield District Alliance will host its inaugural “Food and Fright
Festival” on Tuesday, October 31 through Sunday, November 5. The six-day long event will

Food Crawl through the 5th. The Halloween kickoff will include multiple family activities, prizes
and ongoing entertainment.

    School cheerleaders.
  • Entertainment for the entirety of the Halloween day festival will include: face painters,
balloon artists, a magician, DJ and stilt walker.

“Since being elected Mayor, I have heard how much the community has wanted the return of a
street festival. The Bergenfield District Alliance saw Halloween as a great opportunity to
combine the numerous fall events in Bergenfield into one community festival,” says Mayor
Schmelz. “The Food Crawl is a great new addition because Bergenfield has a large diversity of
food establishments due to its multicultural demographic. We wanted to showcase these
businesses and give our community members a chance to experience as many eateries as
possible at a reduced rate,” explained Mayor Schmelz. “I’m positive the Food and Fright Festival
will be the start of a great yearly event.”

The Bergenfield Food Crawl will highlight the restaurants and businesses of Bergenfield in a
promotional guide, the “Bergenfield Food Crawl Passport,” full of $5 specials and discounts from
local restaurants and businesses. Patrons will have the opportunity to utilize any of the
promotions in their passport and receive a stamp throughout the six-day event. The booklet will
also have space to note your food experiences and a tear-out page to mail in the results of your
stamp collection. The more stamps you collect in your guide, the more chances you have to win
prizes. Bergenfield Food Crawl Passports will be available at local establishments. The list of
participating restaurants can be found at
