Abrecea Brothers Celebrate Ribbon Cutting for Martial Arts Studio

BERGENFIELD, NJ: On Saturday, June 3, Ryan and Raymond Abrecea will hold the grand
opening of Abrecea Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Martial Arts & Fitness Academy. The brothers, who own
and operate the facility, chose to open their martial arts and fitness studio in Bergenfield due to
its diverse demographic.

Born and raised in the Philippines until adolescence, they consider Bergenfield their “home
away from home” because of the large population of Filipinos, including Filipino restaurants and
businesses. The Abreceas want their center to empower the community by giving locals more
options in life and believe that Bergenfield’s community support will be the key to their
program’s success.

“Being able to share our passion and love of martial arts is our way of giving something special
back to our community,” said the Abrecea brothers. “We want to help the community via the use
of martial arts and fitness training discipline to keep the kids away from mischief and help them
reach their personal, fitness and academic goals in life.”
The Abrecea brothers started their martial arts and fitness journey in 1993 in Lindenhurst, NY
and both earned a black belt in the art of Jeet Kune Do in 1998. To accomplish this, both had to
perfect the martial art styles of Arnis at Balaraw (Filipino Martial Arts), Japanese Shoot
Wrestling, Wing Tsung Kung Fu, Indonesian Pencak Silat, Muay Thai Boxing, and Western
Boxing. Currently, Ryan holds a black belt and Raymond a brown belt in the art of Brazilian Jiu

and Muay Thai boxing for adults and kids, dynamic core kickboxing for specifically for women
